Key Ingredients:

Coconut oil- For skin it is a moisturizer, antibiotic, multivitamin, multi-nutrient, nourishing, anti-aging, anti wrinkle and anti-oxidant – All in one! And it is completely natural too! Coconut oil contains mostly fats, so it acts as an emollient for your skin – it provides a softening and soothing effect. As an added bonus, coconut oil further improves the quality and appearance of skin since it helps eliminate dead skin cells. Coconut oil nourishes the skin and helps prevent premature aging and degenerative diseases due to its remarkable properties.

Palm oil & Palm kernel oil- Palm oil contains the hard to find toctrienols, which are members of the vitamin E family..Vitamin E is a strong antioxidant that helps the skin to fight free radicals that damage the skin and cause fine lines and wrinkles. A stronger antioxidant than tocopherols, toctrienols have been proven to be more effective in preventing aging and damage from free radicals. Used topically, as with tocopherol, toctrienols are able to penetrate deep into the skin’s layers to enable healing and protection from the base up.

Raw shea butter- Shea butter is really incredible as long as you are getting the real deal. The Karite Shea tree grows in Africa. There is a big difference between raw or unrefined shea butter versus refined shea butter, raw shea butter is going to be the purest, most natural, least processed and most effective. The two most natural ways to extract the unrefined shea butter is by hand or an expeller. This keeps all the vitamins, minerals and other natural properties of the shea butter intact, making it very beneficial. The benefits of raw shea butter-the kind used in JL Blacksoap, are that it can be used as a superior moisturizer with all natural vitamin A, an anti-inflammatory, a minor sunscreen agent (up to SPF 6), and it also reduces wrinkles (studies show skin improvement in 4-6 weeks with daily use).

Cocoa butter- lubricates and protects the skin and also helps to fade scars. The skin has three layers. Cocoa butter penetrates the top layer of the skin called the epidermis. The cocoa butter can also reach the dermis, the middle layer. It is very effective for lubricating dry skin. This natural moisturizer also softens the skin. “cocoa butter is an excellent emollient that is well absorbed by the skin. Its incredibly high content of vitamin E is responsible for its beneficial properties.” Vitamin E is proven to help with skin renewal and repair. Cocoa butter is also an antioxidant. Antioxidants protect the skin from free radicals or toxins that damage tissues at the cellular level. Cocoa butter is frequently recommended for eliminating stretch marks and other scars. Many people believe that cocoa butter has helped to reduce their scars. Even some plastic surgeons have advised their patients to use cocoa butter on surgical scars.

Shea tree bark ash, Cocoa pods ash, Plantain ash-the distinctive color and texture is rooted in the way the soap is made, which starts with plantains, a more robust version of a banana. Plantains are rich in essential nutrients and oils —an excellent source of vitamin A, vitamin E and iron which are great for nourishing & vitalizing the skin.
